Alchemica Botanica TCM Essential Oils has received numerous requests for essential oil suggestions relating to the current coronavirus. In response to this, we are making these enhanced versions of some of our regular Blends available now for a limited time. Many essential oils have broad anti viral, anti bacterial and anti fungal effects based on their chemical components. With this in mind, along with the medicinal properties of the herbs from which our essential oils are produced, we have formulated these blends based on the principals of traditional Chinese medicine.

As a preventative to strengthen resistance This Blend is designed to be beneficial for the Qi and essence, especially of the Kidney and Lung and to fortify the Wei Qi and immune system. The action of this Blend is restorative for the general health, applicable for example, in the case of depletion syndromes due to chronic, degenerative illness, during recovery after a long illness or in the case of frequent acute illnesses. This Blend is intended to be applied topically to appropriate acupuncture points, channels and areas of the body such as the Kidney area and points of the lower back, Lung Shu points on the upper back and Ren 17 in the center of the chest for example. It may also be ingested, taking one to three drops by mouth once or twice per day for three consecutive days, with a break for three days and then repeating this pattern of three days on and three days off for one to three months as one course. Pediatric dosing for children over 2 years is 1 drop diluted in warm honey water. Supplementation of one drop of Huang Qi essential oil will increase the immune enhancing action. An enhanced version of our acute Wind Chill type Catch Cold essential oil blend with addition of two strongly anti viral ingredients. Essential oils in this Blend are anti viral, warming, decongesting, antitussive and release the surface to address symptoms such as fatigue, chills, runny nose, scratchy throat, headache, upper body aches. This Blend is intended for topical application over areas and points that address external wind, for example, those found around the upper back and occiput. It may be used with moxa and cupping. To address an acute illness may be applied several times per day. Always test on a small area first for skin sensitivity. It is also recommended as inhalation by means of a few drops placed in a cup of steaming water or by using a diffuser to more widely affect the environment.
If needed, this Blend may be ingested, taking 1 to 3 drops by mouth up to three times per day for adults 14 years and up. The monoterpene content of Cedar Wood essential oil serves as a strong antiseptic while sesquiterpenes make it anti viral as well as gentle and beneficial to the skin. Like other evergreens, Cedar’s aroma instills a sense of quietude and this Cedar in particular is calming, grounding, and protective.
Sweet Wormwood / Artmisiae annuae / Qing Hao - Research into the prominent artemisinin content of Artemisiae annuae led to the 1915 Nobel Prize for Medicine awarded to Dr Yuyou Tu for the discovery of a ground breaking anti malaria drug. This essential oil has anti viral properties and potentiates the clearing energy of the blend.
