Fresh Ginger Root

This essential oil is CO2 extracted from the fresh root of Zingiberis Rhizoma. Our fresh ginger root essential oil emits a lively, fresh, pungent aroma, which stimulates and clears the senses, breaking through congestion and settling the stomach.

In Chinese herbal medicine Sheng Jiang/fresh and Gan Jiang/dried baked ginger roots are used for different purposes (compare with our Gan Jiang essential oil). The fresh root expels cold from the surface and warms the Lungs, whereas, the dried is used to warm the interior of the body and the Yang Qi. 

Our fresh ginger root essential oil emits a lively, fresh, pungent aroma, which stimulates and clears the senses, breaking through congestion and settling the stomach. 

One drop added to a cup of hot honey water warms the surface and stops chills at the onset of a common cold, or may be taken to quell nausea.

A small percentage of Sheng Jiang in blends to treat wintertime colds or flus will help warm the Lungs, and open the surface to expel the pathogenic factor. In this way, it clears up congestion and stops coughing. For this purpose Sheng Jiang may be blended with other essential oils such as Gui Zhi/Gui Ye (Cinnamon Twig and Leaf) and Jing Jie (Schizonepeta). 

Fresh Ginger essential oil is also an essential addition to blends when an exterior condition or food poisoning has affected the digestion causing nausea and diarrhea. 

For food poisoning or digestive flu-like conditions, combine Sheng Jiang with Zi Su Ye (Perilla Leaf essential oil).
