TU SI ZI (“Rabbit Silk Seed,” Cuscuta chinensis Semen)
Tu Si Zi essential oil’s aroma has a lovely grape like sweetness that rises into the head instilling a sense of support and calm clarity. This CO2 extracted translucent, olive green oil has a taste that is mild and nutty.
It is highly prized in traditional Chinese medicine to tonify both Yin and Yang of the Kidney and to consolidate Kidney Jing essence. It is used in the treatment of impotence, spematorrhea, back pain, uterine bleeding or clear vaginal discharge, urinary incontinence, or deficiency diarrhea due to Kidney Yang deficiency. Nu Zhen Zi is also indicated, traditionally as a single herb remedy or combined for Wasting and Thirsting syndrome (often associated with certain symptoms of diabetes).
For impotence and increased libido combine with essential oil of She Chuang Zi (Cnidiium Seed).
To consolidate leakages such as urinary incontinence, bleeding, spermatorrhea, cocks crow diarrhea etc, practitioners may consider combining Tu Is Zi with Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra Seed).
Tu Si Zi has a nourishing effect on the Liver as well and as such it benefits the eyes. Especially in case of blurred vision, spots in front of the eyes, dryness and dizziness. For this purpose, may be blended with essential oils of Nu Zhen Zi (Ligustrum lucidum), Gou Qi Zi (Lyciium Berry), and Carrot Seed.
For back pain, practitioners may consider combining Tu Si Zi with other essential oils such as Gou Qi Zi (Lyciium Berry), Du Zhong ( Eucommia Root) and Du Huo (Angelica Pubescentis Root)
In clinical research, topical application of Tu Si Zi, two to three times a day produced good results for cases of vitiligo. The essential oil may be applied neat or diluted in almond oil.
